My husband and I recently took the Brightline from West Palm Beach to Miami for a quick day trip...but it got us wondering about the newly expanded north route to Orlando and taking Brightline to Disney specifically!
Let's take a look at the numbers! This would be for a family of 4 (2 Kids in seats). You can have an infant in lap per adult for free of charge. Now pricing can vary depending on when you book your tickets, time of day of the train, and most importantly class of service. For this example, I used the 4th of July to the 6th of July staying at the Four Seasons Orlando.
West Palm to Orlando | Driving | Brightline |
Length of time | 2.5 Hours | 2.75 Hours |
Gas/Tickets | $100 | $1,344 Premium / $380 Smart |
Additional Transport Costs | $26 Tolls | $100 Uber / $50 Baggage |
Total Cost | $126 | $1,444 Premium /$530 Smart |
Whew - that is expensive. To be honest, we were in premium and I don't think that's necessary to go to Orlando but then in Smart you have to pay the baggage fee of $25 each "checked" bag. I do think there may be some value if you are heading to Orlando International Airport (MCO) to catch a flight or to see a concert. I cannot imagine paying $400 more though even though I do like the convenience of not having to worry about traffic or screaming children wanting my attention in the car! What are your thoughts? Have you taken the Brightline and found additional value?
